LearningNI resources for KS2

This term, C2k is distributing to all schools in NI a booklet for each Key Stage 2 teacher, and a poster for the staffroom noticeboard. These were designed to highlight the interactive learning and teaching resources that are available in LearningNI and to encourage teachers to log in and browse or search the library. 

LearningNI is our very own, secure, web based learning environment, which is available at the click of a button from any C2k school computer desktop and over the internet outside school. These booklets contain information about just some of the exciting resources that are available in the LearningNI Library, which are all free for use by all staff and pupils in schools in Northern Ireland.

The materials come from a variety of sources, including resources which will support teachers in the delivery of the Revised NI Curriculum. There are also links to resources from our partner organisations across England, Scotland and Wales which have been made available to us via the National Education Network, and links to BBC Education and other reputable education websites. A particularly useful Key Stage 2 resource is the LearningNI Newsdesk, which provides a daily local news story and suggestions for classroom activities which are specially written for pupils in Key Stage 2.

Becta ISP accreditation for C2k

C2k was awarded full accreditation by Becta for the quality of its schools’ internet service provision in 2009. C2k is working towards renewing the accreditation for 2010.

The Becta Internet Service Provider accreditation means that all pupils and teachers in NI's primary and secondary schools can be assured that the internet services  provided by C2k meet required guidelines.  C2k’s internet service is constantly monitored to ensure that children and teachers in NI are protected against offensive emails and web site content.
