C2k achieves Investors in People

Invesotrs in People photographToday C2k was one of 36 businesses to  receive the  Investors in People award from Employment Minister, Sir Reg Empey, at a ceremony at Hillsborough Castle.

Sir Reg congratulated those receiving awards and said:  “The uptake of IiP in Northern Ireland is an encouraging sign for the local economy, and should serve as an example to other employers not yet capitalising on the bottom-line business benefits of IiP.  We tend to forget that businesses are, in essence, people, and the importance of local businesses investing in their people is particularly relevant at this difficult time for industry.”

IiP is the national award that sets a level of good practice for training and development of staff to achieve the goals of the organisation.  Achieving the Standard is one of the key objectives of C2k’s strategy.

Jimmy Stewart, Director of C2k, said “I am extremely proud that C2k staff have achieved the Investors in People Standard.  This reflects the tremendous work staff at all levels have put in to ensure that C2k’s internal processes for the development and management of people meet this sought after Standard.  The IiP Standard sends a very strong message to our staff that their work is valued.”

C2k employs over 100 people throughout Northern Ireland who are based in teams to support schools in each education and library board. Staff in the teams are from diverse backgrounds and consist of network experts, programmers, systems analysts, teachers and schools’ admin people.

The Becta Internet Service Provider accreditation means that all pupils and teachers in NI's primary and secondary schools can be assured that the internet services  provided by C2k meet required guidelines.  C2k’s internet service is constantly monitored to ensure that children and teachers in NI are protected against offensive emails and web site content.
